What is the Century Club?
The Long Beach Century Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the support of amateur athletics in Long Beach, California, particularly for the city's middle schools, high schools and colleges. The club has supported thousands of Long Beach athletes, sending competitors around the world—many returning as world and Olympic champions. The membership dues have remained $100 since the club was founded nearly 70 years ago by 100 local sports enthusiasts, and the club now has 400+ members.
Who are our members?
Our members come from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions, but they all share one common passion—promoting amateur athletics in the City of Long Beach. Our membership includes business leaders, Olympians, professional athletes, student-athletes, educators, coaches, and community members who are passionate about sports. Anyone who shares our mission is welcome at the Century Club, where members connect at our weekly meetings and other events throughout the year.
Century Club Events
Awards Night/Hall of Fame Banquet
The Century Club concludes each school year with its annual Awards Night and Hall of Fame Banquet, where it inducts new Hall of Famers and celebrates a host of outstanding Long Beach high school and college athletes with special awards and scholarships.
Middle School Sports Awards Banquet
The Century Club celebrates every Long Beach middle school All-City team, athlete, and coach across every sport and division at its annual Middle School Sports Awards Banquet, presenting custom-made plaques to each honoree.
Annual Gifting Meeting
Each April, the Century Club hosts its annual Gifting Meeting, the organization's largest giving event of the year. In 2026, the Century Club donated $100,000 to support school sports programs throughout Long Beach.
Mayor's Trophy Charity Golf Tournament
The Century Club's largest fundraiser each year is the annual Mayor's Trophy Charity Golf Tournament, held every September. Partnered with Mayor Rex Richardson, the event raises funds that support scholarships, student awards, and school athletic programs throughout Long Beach.
