Weekly Meeting 10/20/26
We hosted Long Beach State men's basketball coach Chris Acker, who was loud and proud of his squad heading into the upcoming season, highlighting the team's size, intelligence and teamwork. Athletic Director Bobby Smitheran was also in attendance to introduce Coach Acker and his staff and show his support for the program. With plenty of excitement surrounding the team, it looks like a competitive season ahead, with hopes of making some real noise inside the Pyramid this year!
Weekly Meeting 10/13/26
The Long Beach Century Club hosted Alan Berkes and the organization Ready, Set, Gold. The presentation was both interesting and informative as he explained the program's focus on healthy living, exercise and its impact on students in California!
Long Beach Marathon Beer Garden 10/11/26
The Long Beach Century Club was back at the Long Beach Marathon this year to crew the Beer Garden! We had plenty of volunteers show up to help quench the thirst of 25,000+ runners and attendees at an event that also helps raise money for the Century Club. Weekly Meeting 10/6/26
At this meeting, Century Club we hosted Mack Calvin, former professional basketball player, coach and Hall of Famer. Mack is one of Long Beach's most respected athletes, not just for his career accomplishments, but also for his contributions to the community through his Youth Empowerment Foundation. He shared his personal story and his vision for improving the lives and futures of the young people his foundation impacts. Mack is always inspiring!
Monthly Social 9/30/26
The Long Beach Century Club hosted our Monthly Social at the LBSU women’s soccer match on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at George Allen Field. The game was preceded by some great pizza and beverages at nearby Pizzamania, and our banner was flying high as we cheered on the team. It was a very hard-fought match and a great one to watch, as the Beach fell just short in a 4-3 loss against CSUN.
Weekly Meeting 9/22/26
The Long Beach Century Club was back at the Boathouse for our Weekly Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 22, where we hosted the local high school boys’ water polo teams. This is an annual favorite meeting, as we got to hear from Wilson coach Zac Polmanteer, Long Beach Poly coach Ish Pluton, Millikan coach Luke Garrison, and Jordan coach Brenden Gruneisen, along with some of their players. Fun fact: In the last century, there’s been just one Summer Olympics that didn’t feature a Long Beach native representing the United States!
