64th Annual Sports Banquet, Huge Success!

A wonderful turnout of almost 500 individuals witnessed 6 individuals being inducted into our Hall of Fame, individuals honored for their contributions to sports in the City of Long Beach, the naming of our Athlete of the Year & our Athlete of the Decade….not to mention the 30 individual Players of the Year in their sports.  Our President, Shar Higa announced that the Sports Banquet is/was responsible for distributing over $42,000 in scholarships to deserving student/athletes and then announced that one of our Hall of Fame members, Billie Jean King has committed to donating $50,000 over a five year period to further youth sports in Long Beach.  We post pictures of the event as well as Mayor Garcia’s speech for your review.  A truly terrific evening to honor many fine athletes and community leaders!
